"A barbarian is a man who
believes the customs of his tribe are the laws of nature" - George
Bernard Shaw
Introduction
In 2004 the Pentagon's "Interim Global Strike Alert Order"
enshrined America's unilateral Right of Pre-emptive War. They
can strike any country at any time for any reason. This includes
Nuclear first strike. After World War Two the UN established
(unanimously) that "to initiate a war of aggression
[unsanctioned by International Treaty] is not only an
international crime, it is the supreme international crime
differing only from other war crimesin that it contains
within itself the accumulated evil of the whole". Nazi War
Criminals were hung for this crime. The American Regime states
that it is going to commit this crime and tells you - in advance
that it is a matter of US policy.
Don't kid yourself that you live in a Country that is one of
America's friends. How long do you think that will last? Do you
recall how France was treated prior to Gulf War II? In the
competition for world resources anyone who gets in America's way
will have to watch their backs. You, me, everyone. It is only a
question of time before we make the list of enemies.

Can America Avoid Conflict?
What happens when the white middle
classes, around the World, lose faith in America? This light on the hill that
preaches 'democracy' and 'free trade'. What happens
when all those nice English-speaking people around the planet
stop believing this? When they start to see illegal foreign wars
for what they truly are. We don't mean the usual suspects, you
know, the people we have labelled 'terrorists'. No, we mean the
people who look just like you. White, successful, rich. Those
people who are meant to do well in the U.S.-Model Economy. What
happens when people like us join with the people America has
already made enemies of? What if people "who matter" start to
speak up for the people who don't? Then, my friend, you have the
beginning of the end.
Send in the peacekeepers. Can America avoid conflict? We no
longer know. It is time for a change. If American leadership can
no longer keep step with the rest of the World, whilst still
holding the People of that World to ransom with its Dollar and
its Military, then what do we do? We liberate ourselves. We
declare independence. "The Coming War" is not a threat nor a
promise. It is our nightmare and we wish to stop it from ever
happening. We fear that, unless there is an urgent change in the
balance of power in world affairs that sooner or later, the
entire planet will be at war with the last Superpower. No one
will win.
Imagine if
you will, the UN peacekeepers streaming in from Mexico in the
south and Canada in the north. The year is 2025. Oil production
has fallen off a cliff since its peak in 2008. American has
attempted a global oil-grab by military or political means in
order to preserve its "non-negotiable" way of life. The high
seas are scenes of piracy as the US war fleet abduct oil tankers
destined for China, Europe and Asia and bring them into US
ports. American-TV sparkles with the rhetoric of the
Neo-Conservatives who tell their people that they will protect
the American people from those evil-doers who would steal what
is "rightfully America's". Those evil-doers have grown from a
short list in 2001 to now include Europeans, the Middle
East, far East, Asia and Africa. Indeed anyone who will no
longer pay their dues to Washington.
The UN General Assembly was removed from New York in 2021 and
now sits judgements in Geneva. The US delegation no longer turns up nor pay its way. It had already
rejected over 200 UN Resolutions and multi-lateral agreements on
everything from the oil-depletion protocol, to Climate-Change
abatements, Cuba, land-mines, the International Courts, Human
Rights and so on. America stands alone with only a fistful of
"Trade Agreements" remaining of its global obligations. (The
agreements it had negotiated to suit itself some 20 years before
- the rest of the world had abandoned the suicidal course of
Globalisation and Economic Growth by 2019.) The dollar had
collapsed and the US no longer paid its debts. The global
economy is in free-fall and America is dragging down everyone
with it.
What would it take
for one last UN Security Council Resolution to support regime
change in Washington? I know what you are thinking. If you are
American you will be in one of two camps. The Nationalist
guttural response will one of "bring it on". Armed to the teeth
they will protect America to the bitter end. This jingoistic few
will care nothing for the wrongs of their country abroad. They
will march into this coming war with "my country right or wrong"
on their lips.
Then
there will those true patriots who will sigh gently and shake
their heads. They are the ones that know that this is one
possible
destiny that awaits their country. They know it CAN'T come to
that. It must not. They too would defend their country if they
thought it had acted in any defensible way. None of these good
people can, any longer, put their hands on their collective
hearts and pledge to put America first. America has been first
for 200 years and it has lead them nowhere. Time for a
realignment. Time to remove the claws of the men in Washington.
Time to remove the central Federal power base and replace it
with a loose Union of States. There will be many winners but a
few losers. Even if change does not come from without it may
come from within. Is the coming war the next American Civil War?
How can we bring about a peaceful change? If the American people
are unable to change the face of its Nation then here is the
alternative: the rest of the world will reject America. American
Corporations will be ejected from foreign economies. The
American way of life will be removed from people's lives. No
more McDonalds, no more Coke, no more Starbucks. People will no
longer look upon these imports as sophisticated. They will no
longer reflect what the rest of the World needs. We should bring
this process around early through the voluntary actions of
millions. Why refuse to buy the products or services of just one
American Corporation when you can reject them all? It is time
for Global Sanctions against the USA. It is time that the other
centres of global capital moved away from the Dollar for
International Trade. Imagine your barrels of crude priced in
Euros or Yen? If the Dollar economy is an unsustainable pack of
cards, set to topple and wreck the world economy, then let us
voluntarily exorcise the dollar from our lives and economies.
Let's isolate America and trade, say, only with Cuba and
Venezuela. Let's take the Empire apart brick by brick. This will
be the people's revolution.
The
Challenge for America
How does America meet this challenge? There
will come a point where it has no friends left on the planet. If
American leadership cannot be found who are able to engage the
other citizens, of the planet, in meaningful debate, then what
is your future? You cannot continue to print dollars as a means
of making money. That is not sustainable. You have an
unimaginable debt that is unserviceable. The dollar system will
collapse. Your Oil supply will decrease. You will be effected by
Global Climate Change. Will you choose to stop falling? Will you
make the right choice? Are you able to see the ground rushing up
towards you? Can you find a means of survival that doesn't
require Military intervention in every other State in the World?
Your Wars will come home to you. They already have. You have the
get out of jail card. Use it before it is too late. We will not
be with you at the end.

"Age of Stupid" released
The Grierson Award-winning "The Age of Stupid" has its "People's
Premiere Sunday 15th March. It goes on general release from the 20th
March. The movie stars Pete Postlethwaite as an old man living alone
in what is a devastated world of 2055. He is a historian looking
back at film archive footage of 2008 and asking "why didn't we stop
climate change when we had the chance?" Directed by Franny Armstrong
(McLibel) and produced by Oscar-winning John Battsek ("One Day in
September"). Profits from the Premiere go to Climate Change
campaigns.
The Coming War
Why "The Coming War"? America
is locked into a system of Perpetual War. If you wait long
enough, that this war will consume you, who-ever you are and
where-ever you live. It will not respect borders or the current
allegiances of your Government. It will not respect the language
you speak nor the colour of your skin nor the god you worship.
No one will be untouched. You may have to take sides. We wish to
avert a war. Wars may not always be fought with weapons. Wars
can bombard with ideas and ideology. Our ideology is "do no
harm". An ideological system based upon perpetual conflict harms
everyone. We no longer believe that the victims will just be
some "bad people", "evil-doers" or "terrorists". It is everyone.
We are all in competition with the USA. The Coming War is not
only for the hearts and minds of the human race but also one of
survival.
Survival? Do we continue to
follow the Washington Consensus on economic growth? The pursuit
of a free market paradigm will damage everyone's lives. It is
damaging our life support system in the thin layer of atmosphere
that wraps our home. It is consuming the last reserves of Oil.
For it is Oil that will be the pivotal point of future conflict.
American has already consumed far more than its fair share of
this valuable resource in its growth to being the last
superpower. It will use its power to secure the last remaining
Oil. By force. There will be no negotiation. The needs of our
poorest will mean nothing. The future of our unborn mean
nothing. American values have displaced all other
considerations. Consumerism is the new god and the Corporations
the new high priests. Other cultures must be crushed to oil the
wheels of American hegemony.
So, if you wish for a future for
your children then join with us. Let us dare to wish for a
different future. Let us act and speak defiance. You need never
pick up a gun to reject Empire. You are probably the lucky few
who live in a modern, industrialised, wealthy northern country.
If so then you weapons are your choices. The choices you make in
your democracy. The things you spend money on. The way you live
your life. The values you teach your children. The TV you watch.
In an energy-poor world Globalisation will be a painful memory.
If we are to survive then it is our local communities who will
be resurgent. You most relocalise now for our post-carbon
future. Isolate yourself from America. Their dream is your
nightmare. American will eat itself whole. The greater the
distance you keep between your community and that train wreck
the better. Declare your independence from America.
First they came...
First they came
for the Communists, and I did not speak out,
because I was not
a Communist;
Then they came for
the Socialists, and I did no speak out,
because I was not
a Socialist;
Then they came for
Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out,
because I was not
a Trade Unionist;
Then they came for
the Jews, and I did not speak out,
because I was not
a Jew;
Then they came for
me,
and there was no
one left to speak out for me.
Pastor Martin Niemöller
(1892-1984)
Martin Niemöller was the commander of a WWI German U-Boat and was
awarded the Iron Cross (first class). He had supported the
fascist Freikorps in the chaotic battles with Communists in
inter-war Germany. He was an early supporter of
Hitler. indeed, the Nazi's saluted him for his Military Service. He
voted for the Nazi Party in 1924 and was making pro-Hitler
speeches up until 1931.
Memories of the war-time atrocities
haunted him and he became a Berlin Pastor. By 1934 he had come to oppose
the Nazis due to their policy of religious reform. In his
sermons he started to speak out about the arrest of Protestants
resulting in him being tried and sent to Dachau Concentration
Camp by 1937. He narrowly escaped execution.
He never spoke these words
that became the Poem (above) until
after the war - never from the pulpit in the 1930's. Niemöller rejected the Nazi vision
of 'positive Christianity' that held the view that German people
had some 'special virtue' over other people, ie, the Jews.
However, he remained a loyal German and had even offered to
serve in the German Navy during World War Two. His argument with
the Nazis had been on religious grounds. He was refused
entry to Britain after the war because he was not deemed
anti-Nazi enough.
Despite his
dubious past beliefs we now all know Niemöller's words as those
that define apathy in the face of tyranny. After the war
Niemöller worked to rebuild the reputation of the German Protestant
Church through recognising the collective guilt of the German people
for the crimes of the Nazis.
Today we face the
same apathy that Niemöller observed in the Berlin of 1934. His
observation is as true then as it is now. The loss of our
freedoms comes slowly and always happens to OTHER people first.
At first we don't see our crimes against these people because we
have nothing in common with them. Slowly the circle of people
effected by our crimes widens and widens. Still we say nothing.
We hide out eyes from the truth until the circle of crime widens
to include US. Then it is too late.
For us ALL it is
Berlin in 1934. Yet we do
nothing. For in 2008 we could write the Niemöller Poem to say
this:
First they came
for the communists, and I did not speak out,
because I was not
a communist;
Then they came for
the socialists, and I did no speak out,
because I was not
a socialist;
Then they came for
trade unionists, and I did not speak out,
because I was not
a trade unionist;
Then they came for
the Muslims, and I did not speak out,
because I was not
a Muslim;
Then they came for
me,
and there was no
one left to speak out for me.
The Challenge for
the World
Look for OTHER models for your society and
culture. Look at Cuba. Look at Kerala Province in India. Look
anywhere where there is no economic growth yet the needs of the
people are met. Reject the dollar economic system. Reject
Globalisation. Embrace Localisation. Reject high-energy culture
and the religion of waste. Embrace sustainable existence. Choose
your lifeboat. Leave the sinking ship. Dare to be different.

progressive-thinking, liberal-leaning, good hearted people."
